Art is interaction, not only between me and my work while painting and sculpting, but also between the work and the viewer.

I was born in ‘s-Hertogenbosch in 1948 and my interest in painting and sculpting started at a young age. In the 1960s I followed an education at the free academy in Rotterdam and specialized in painting. In 2009 I completed the 5-year training in classical sculpture at the art academy in Belgium.

The classical training as a painter and sculptor was a good basis to further develop myself. The challenge also remains to create spatial work outside of realistic painting. When painting, the aim is to depict the objects/subjects as realistically as possible, preferably with oil paint, on a small panel or on a large canvas. To display everyday objects in such a way that your eye is drawn to the subject that you would otherwise pass by.
