It’s the little things that amaze and inspire me to capture them on canvas”
Daniel van der Heijden (Netherlands, 1998) is a Dutch student who spends his free time visiting museums, reading art history books, and making paintings. He has drawn all his life, and has been teaching himself how to paint over the last few years. He’s fascinated by the beauty and details of everyday items, such as the way light reflects on a candy wrapper and the relation between sunlight and the colours of different surfaces and textures. His painting style sits somewhere between pop-art and (hyper)realism, depending on the subject.

”"The most important thing that I’ve learned about painting is that beauty is truly everywhere – if you’re willing to look. It’s the little things that amaze and inspire me to capture them on canvas"
